A Message from the Supervisor “Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities.

The yard waste is shredded, and processed and turned into a rich soil compost that can be used in organic farming, landscaping and gardening. Currently, all compost and mulch product produced annually at the facility is sold to commercial markets and given away - free of charge - to town residents. Located along the northern perimeter of the MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, NY, the 40-acre facility was designed to process all of the leaves, grass, tree and brush debris generated in the Town - an area of 106 square miles having a population of approximately 310,000.
